CONCERT ON THE TOWER

On August 3, 2012 at 8 pm the unusual happening has taken its place on the sixth level of the Sightseeing Tower. The first time in the history of the town the promotional concert of ‘The Blue’s Free House’ has been carried out when the invited guests listened to the compositions performed by Mr David Stepien as well in Polish as in English language. The concert was on the top level not only in the meaning of its 33 m height of the Tower but and before all for the exceptional individuality and professionalism of the performer who has presented his own folk ballads written in the past and also several days ago. It is not without meaning that Mr Stepien has been the winner of the prestige Rawa Blues Festival in 1994 where he was awarded by the publicity as the only one between above sixty performers in it. He appeared in Poland and abroad including the countries of the Near East and in the Great Britain where he has issued his own singleplay record. He has come back his home town several years ago to deal with his music and having the intention for the longer staying here. He deals his music with us handing down the accepted rules of behaviouring and moral canons so needed in the common life of each society but not always used. The subject matter of Mr David Stepien’s compositions is so different that everyone of us is able to make a favourite choice among them for listening to the ballads about friendship and or regarding to the common life situations. The big challenge for the performer and the organizers appeared also to carry on all of the equipment and instruments so high but it happened easier than was considered before, with the help of the friends and familiars.

The concert has its own mistic and pleasant atmosphere in the picturesque scenery of the sunset what additionally gave the colours and emphasized the spirits of the compositions being performed. The hits of the evening became ‘Callin’ Friends’, ‘Free Design’ or ‘Dzieci – kwiaty(‘Flower Children’) and many others what one could see listening to the applause of the publicity and to the voices demanding the encores. This was the reason of the length of the concert earlier planned for eleven compositions and in the fact lasted till the late evening hours. According to the specific place of the concert and the historical facts tied to it Mr David Stepien has written and presented ‘Balladę o mieście skarbów’ (‘The Ballad About The Town Of Treasure’) telling the story of Wladislaws the Third – would-be the king of Poland.

The composition met the the loud applause of the listeners of course considering the fact that the performer slipped out the phrases from the mediaeval Polish in it. The compositions as ‘Wisdom’ or ‘Gift Of Heaven’ were sang with the accompaniment of the steel guitar and harmonized ideally with the natural orange-red light of the sunbeams what increased the pathetic atmosphere of them.

The presentation has finished by the launching of the coloured Chinese lanterns which appeared as the unusual happening and has become the additional element for the arrangement of the spirit of the compositions as ‘Moja tarcza (‘My Shield’) or ‘Someone With The Light’.

Mr David Stepien wants to present his compositions in many performances as well in his home country as abroad giving all the people of the world the moments of the lapse of memory about their common problems.
